Our Mission

Each child is loved and uniquely made. Prodigy Leadership Academy exists to provide a tailored education that maximizes the God-given potential of every student.

The Prodigy Way

It Starts With the Child

Most schools start with a standard and work toward it. We start with your child — who they are, how they learn, what they love, where they need to grow — and build from there.

Russell and Amy Grammer spent years in classrooms and in the research before leaving their teaching jobs in 2009 to build something different. They started with 19 students in a church basement and a conviction that every child deserves the kind of education that sees them fully.

Today, on 32 acres tucked into the countryside outside Cape Girardeau, that conviction still drives everything we do. Your child will be known by name, challenged at their level, mentored by teachers who pray for them, and given room to actually be a kid — to explore, build, create, fail, and try again.

Built for this moment

Children need more than a good education. They need a real childhood.

Author, professor, and social psychologist Jonathan Haidt spent years studying why so many kids today are struggling. His conclusion, as shared in The Anxious Generation: children thrive through real relationships, free play, face-to-face community, and the chance to take risks and explore the physical world. What they don’t need is more screen time, more supervision, and more pressure to perform.

We didn’t read the research and decide to change. The research caught up to what we already knew to be true.

Our students spend time outdoors every day. They build real friendships across age groups. They have teachers who know them well enough to notice when something’s off. They worship together, serve together, and grow up in a community that holds them accountable and cheers them on. There are no phones pulling them away from the moment they’re in.

Faith in Action

A place where your child is truly known

Parents come to Prodigy from different places. Some are frustrated with a school that couldn’t see what their child was capable of. Some are searching for a community rooted in faith. Some heard about us from another family and needed to see it for themselves.

What they find is a school where teachers know their students not just academically, but as a whole person. A struggling reader doesn’t get labeled, they get a plan. A shy child finds their voice. A student who never liked school suddenly can’t wait to get there.

We’ve seen it happen more times than we can count. We’d love for your family to be next.

The Prodigy Way

The Prodigy Way is more than a philosophy — it’s the story of how Prodigy came to be, and why we believe education should look different. Written by longtime Prodigy teacher and curriculum coach Jessica Pederson, this book captures the heart of our mission and the principles that shape every day on campus.
