Prodigy

January 2023 – Director’s Corner

We have much to be thankful for in 2022! As in years past, our students had the opportunity to grow in giving through our Operation Christmas Blessing. Thanks to a special donation of $2,000, each class shared God’s love in a unique way within our community. Students adopted families in which to give presents, delivered a special meal to children in foster care, and surprised shoppers with gift cards, just to name a few! Speaking of giving, we were amazed by your generous response towards the purchase of an additional van to add to our Prodigy fleet for community field trip learning. Also, donations came in towards infrastructure and the building of another cabin classroom for the 2023-2024 school year, a Greenhouse Grant was given, as well as the gift of another swinset for our playground! How exciting! We are so amazed by everyone’s generosity.

As Prodigy continues to provide excellent and unique educational support to our students, families and staff, the PLA Board of Directors has determined to increase tuition for the 2023-2024 school year. For students in grades K-12, the approved increase will amount to $51 per month, or $612 annually, and $40.50 per month for students in PreK. This is always a difficult decision but is what keeps the program sustainable and provides for our incredible staff. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. Additionally, since PLA is a 501c3, not-for-profit entity, we welcome contributions from community members and partners. These donations help to off-set our operational costs and make tuition assistance available for those who could not otherwise afford for their children to experience the extraordinary benefits of Prodigy.

On Saturday, February 4th, our Board will host a Special Dinner at the Chirunomula’s with an Indian cuisine prepared by Bavhani! A limited number of individuals invited by board members will hear about our educational program and be given the opportunity to give towards scholarships, campus building goals and special projects. Our last board fundraiser was a success and we look forward to seeing all that unfolds. If you have any friends, coworkers or family members that have potential to be financial donors, this may be the perfect opportunity for them to connect. Have them contact me at r.grammer@goprodigy.org!

Prodigy will be hosting a High School information night on February 16th, from 5:30-7:00. We have seen tremendous growth in our junior high and high school programs and are excited to partner with our future world changers! Come hear about our High School program and invite others who you think may be interested! More information to come.

The Prodigy Bridge will be an educational support program that is tailored for the unique needs of Homeschooling families. Students in grades Prek-8th will attend two days a week to participate in project-based learning activities with a focus on social studies, science, literacy, math, interest-driven learning, community as a classroom and the development of 21st Century skills such as communication, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. The participants are still entirely classified and functioning as homeschool students who are receiving supplemental educational support. Prodigy will provide parents of the students with regular and consistent progress reports and achievement results. These feedback elements are suitable for parents to include in their homeschool record-keeping. Upon parent request and for an additional fee, Prodigy can provide consulting services for homeschool parents regarding curriculum, resource access, assessment and transcript assistance.

Pray with us as we walk out these God given dreams that we will have discernment and provision.

Sincerely,

Russell Grammer
