PLA Post September-October 2023

Flag Football

The Prodigy Bears flag football team is off to a great start! This is our first ever football team at PLA. We are so excited to have Coach Banks developing our sports program so we can offer more athletic opportunities for our students. Feel free to pick up a football schedule and join us in cheering for our team. Be on the lookout to sign up your children for other sports programs in the near future.

Thursday Outdoor Excursions

PLA is now offering “Thursday Outdoor Excursions”. These will be hosted by Coach Banks and will provide an outdoor and off-campus learning experience for our students. Our first outing was Sep, 21. Coach Banks took the Pre-K – Kindergarten students to Indian Creek, where they observed water creatures, explored habitats, experimented with boats they designed and created, painted rocks, and created with natural clay. We will offer unique adventures like this, and others, each week on Thursdays for grades pre-k – 4th during the first quarter. After the first
quarter, all grades will participate.

Discount Cards

PTO Discount Card sales are in full swing! Money and unsold cards are due back October 5th. Classes that sell 75 cards will receive an ice cream party, 100 cards will receive a pizza party, and 200 cards will receive a special field trip. Proceeds go toward classroom support and other school functions and beneficial purposes.

Fall Break

Enjoy Fall Break on October 16th-October 19th. There will be no Friday program on Oct. 20th.

With our weather cooling off, please remember to send a jacket with your student when necessary, with his/her name written on it. We love this beautiful campus and plan to enjoy it as much as possible. Please adhere to our PLA dress code. Coats and outerwear do not need to be Prodigy wear, but sweatshirts and long sleeve items, when worn inside, need to follow the dress code.

All-School Worship

Families are welcome to come participate in our whole school worship time under the beautiful sky (weather permitting) on Tuesdays from 8:15-9:00 am. We would love to have you join us!

Starting Sep, 25th, dismissal will begin at 3:45. Our line is longest between 3:45 and 3:50. If you are able, please arrive closer to 4:00 to help prevent the line extending on to the county road. Also, be sure to pull up as close as you can to the vehicle in front of you and stay alert and ready to move when you are waiting in line. All of these measures will minimize traffic-risk potential on the county road near our driveway.

End of 1st Quarter

The end of our first quarter is October 12th. Report Cards will go home November 2nd.

Wilderness Wonders

Our annual Wilderness Wonders Trip is this week, September 26th- September 28th. Wilderness Wonders has always been a beautiful learning experience for our students and families. Over the years, we have visited places like the Wilderness Lodge, Camp Ondessonk, and most recently, Eagle Sky. We are full of anticipation for our 5th- 12th grade students to return with wonderful stories of adventure, great learning, new and stronger friendships, and fresh
experiences with God. Let’s all keep them in prayer!
